Why a transparent PNG is the right output

PNG stores an alpha channel next to the red, green and blue values of every pixel. Alpha says how opaque each pixel is, from fully solid to fully clear, so a PNG can hold a cut-out subject with nothing behind it. When you place that file on a slide, a website banner or a product page, whatever sits underneath shows through the empty areas.

JPG cannot do this. It has no alpha channel, so any transparent area gets filled with a solid colour, usually white or black, the moment you save. That is why a PNG with a removed background is the standard for logos, stickers, overlays and design work.

Convert JPG to a transparent PNG

A common request is to take a JPG and turn it into a PNG with a clear background. A plain file converter only changes the container, so the white or coloured backdrop stays exactly where it was. To get real transparency, the backdrop has to be separated from the subject first, which is what the model above does.

Upload the JPG, wait for the cutout, and export as PNG. The saved file is a true PNG with transparent pixels around your subject. If you only need the format change and want to keep the background, a regular converter is the faster route.

What happens to your image

The image travels over an encrypted connection to the site's server, the background is removed there and the result comes straight back to you. The site does not save or keep images. Location and camera metadata are stripped from the copy that is sent, so details such as GPS coordinates do not travel with it.
