An eraser that does the painting for you

A traditional background eraser is a brush: you drag it around the subject, zoom in to clean up hair, and undo a lot. This background eraser flips that. An AI model called BiRefNet, running on Cloudflare, decides where the subject ends and the background begins, then erases the background in one go.

That makes it a good fit when you have many photos, a small screen, or no patience for manual masking. You get a cutout first and decide afterwards whether it needs anything else.

What gets erased, and what stays

  • Plain walls, studio paper and sky are erased cleanly.
  • Busy rooms, streets and foliage are also erased, because the model looks at the shape of the subject, not just colour.
  • Fine detail such as hair and fur is kept with soft edges.
  • Transparent or very low contrast objects, like clear glass on a white table, can be harder, so check those results.

Using the online eraser costs nothing, needs no account and adds no watermark. Each visitor has a free daily allowance of 30 images. Photos up to 20 MB and 4096 px on the long side keep their full size; bigger ones are scaled down first. The image goes over an encrypted connection to the site's server, and the site does not save or keep it.
